Some people consider Stockholm an expensive city. Oh yes, you can really spend a lot of money here, as well as you can almost anywhere. But with some knowledge, you can stretch your limited amount of money to last more days. Here’s a few valuable tips:

  1. Avoid Västerlånggatan, Biblioteksgatan, NK and Fotografiska.
  2. Enjoy a good meal at lunchtime. Pick a good restaurant and get ”Dagens lunch” – often the same food as in the evening but for a set price of 90-150 Swedish kronor. You usually get Swedish drip coffee, bread and salad as well.
  3. Among all museums, there are some where admission is free. And they are good! The Army Museum, the Medieval Museum, Museum of Ethnography, the Halwyl Collection, the Swedish History Museum (Vikings!) are a few which I really, really recommend.
  4. Buy a 72-hour ticket for the public transportation system and get around Stockholm by metro, tram, boat and bus. You will see a lot!
